Study Requirements in Australia

As an international student you need a sufficient level of English language proficiency and must meet minimum academic requirements to study in Australia.

Institutions will assess whether you meet the selection criteria for your proposed course of study by looking at the level and content of the study you have completed in Australia or your home country.

In order to get a student visa you must sit for an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or comparable tests.

AA can inform you about the different locations and content of the tests.
Institutions set their own English language requirements and may have different IELTS entry levels for the proposed level of course than those required for a student visa.

Your assessment level (Student Visa Country Assessment Levels) will be determined by the country of your nationality and the education sector in which you are seeking a student visa. Ideally you should take the test before you apply, to help process the application on time.

If you don't meet the initial study entry requirements you can enter a course at a lower level and work your way up, or you may consider enrolment in Foundation studies.

Your previous study may give you credit for your course in Australia, but please check with AA Education Network.
